The Level of the Day

When does it change? At 00:00 UTC, for everyone at once, wherever you are (that is 5:30 in the morning in India). Every player gets the same level, and the home screen counts down to the next one in your own time.

Is it free? Always. You never need an ad for it, even when that level is still locked in your campaign.

How is the leaderboard ranked? Fewest hints first, then fastest. Your first solve of the day is the one that counts. Only the Level of the Day goes on the board, not campaign levels or the puzzle archive.

I missed a day. Can I still play it? Yes, in the puzzle archive on the home screen. Archive replays are for fun: they do not count for your streak or the leaderboard.

Hints

How many hints do I get? Every level comes with a few free hints: more on Easy levels, fewer on Genius and Impossible. When they are gone, the hint button offers one more for an ad.

What is the hint for tomorrow? After you solve the Level of the Day, you can watch an ad to save a hint for tomorrow’s level. It is waiting for you when the next Level of the Day opens, on top of its usual hints.

Where are the hints I bought? Extra hints, from the shop or from Remove ads, are kept for whenever a level’s free hints run out. The shop shows how many you have.

Streaks

How does my streak work? Solve the Level of the Day to light another candle on your week. Miss a day and the streak starts again, unless you have a streak freeze.

How do streak freezes work? On the home screen, watch an ad to earn a streak freeze. You can earn one a week and hold one at a time. It covers one missed day, and it is used up by itself when you come back.

Can it remind me? Yes. In Settings, turn on the daily reminder and pick its time. If your streak is at risk, the app also reminds you in the evening, before the day’s level changes. Both come from the app on your iPhone, so they work without a connection.

Purchases and ads

What is Shadow Fit Plus? A monthly or yearly subscription: no ads ever, three extra hints every day, and opening a level early, a streak freeze or a saved hint without watching an ad. The yearly plan starts with a free week for new subscribers. Everything that is free stays free; Plus only takes away the waiting. Prices are shown in the app, from the App Store.

How do I cancel Plus? On your iPhone, open Settings › your name › Subscriptions › Shadow Fit Plus, at least 24 hours before it renews. You keep Plus until the end of the period you paid for. Shadow Fit › Settings › Shadow Fit Plus › Manage subscription takes you there too.

What does Remove ads do? It is a one-time purchase that takes away the ads between campaign levels for good and adds a free hint every day. Ads you choose to watch, for a hint, a streak freeze or to open a level early, are still offered if you want them. Prices are shown in the App Store.

When do ads show? Between some campaign levels, never in the middle of a level or on the Level of the Day. All other ads are ones you choose to watch.

I bought Remove ads or Plus and it is missing. In Shadow Fit, open Settings › Restore purchases, on an iPhone signed in to the same Apple Account you bought with. Hint bundles are used up as you play, so they cannot be restored; if one did not arrive, email us with the date of the purchase. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Your name and country

Do I need an account? No. Shadow Fit makes an anonymous player for you, with a ghostly name and your country, so your solves can count on the leaderboard. There is no email or password.

How do I change my name or country? Open Today’s leaderboard and tap the pencil next to your name. A name can be 2 to 18 letters or numbers. Your country starts as your iPhone’s region setting; pick another from the list there.

Why was my name refused? Names are public, so each one is checked first. Names with swearing, insults, religion, contact details, or that sound official are not allowed. Try another.

Someone has an offensive name. Email us the name, the country and the day you saw it.

Playing

Does it work offline? Yes. Every campaign level is inside the app, and so is the Level of the Day. Only the leaderboard needs a connection, and a Level of the Day solved offline is sent when you are back online.

I am stuck on a campaign level. Use a hint, or watch an ad to open the next locked level early and come back later. The shadow sharpens and the ring warms as you get closer, so turn slowly.

Tilting is fiddly. Put two fingers down and drag up or down to tilt. You can also turn on Settings › Gyro tilt and tilt the phone itself. Settings also has Reduce motion, sound, music, haptics and the language.

The reveal clip is not available. It uses your iPhone’s screen recording, which iOS asks you to allow the first time. If you said no, or screen recording is turned off in Screen Time, the share card still works.

Where is my progress kept? In the app on your iPhone. Deleting the app deletes your progress, streak and gallery, and it is not synced between devices. Remove ads comes back with Restore purchases.

The app says it is time to update. Some new Levels of the Day need a newer version. Update Shadow Fit in the App Store to keep playing.

Is Shadow Fit on Android or iPad? Not yet. It is coming to iPhone first.
